Founding Frontend Engineer
(Remote anywhere in US or in-person San Mateo, CA)

As a Founding Engineer at Zipline, you’ll have a huge amount of autonomy to shape the product and company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our founders to build our platform from the ground up, with a focus on designing and implementing the web front end. You’ll have a clean slate to work with on the web app, so you’ll be able to build things the way you want to build them.
  • Be a champion for user experience, incorporating your intuition and understanding of how ML/AI practitioners work to create a product that people love to use.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience with interactive frontend development
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding user experiences
  • Commitment to creating simple and maintainable implementations
  • Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a startup environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data infrastructure, data tools, or data visualization
  • Experience with orchestrators like Airflow or Temporal
  • Experience with zero-to-one development
  • Languages: Scala/Python
  • Early-stage experience at a startup.

What We Offer

Compensation: 120k-180k base and competitive equity depending on location and experience. 

Founding Cloud Engineer
(Remote anywhere in US or in-person San Mateo, CA)

As a Founding Engineer at Zipline, you’ll have a huge amount of autonomy to shape the product and company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our founders to build our platform from the ground up, with a focus on architecting and implementing our cloud architecture.
  • Implement Terraform scripts to be able to deploy the Zipline data plane within customers’ clouds. Work with customers to debug issues and ensure that the deployment is working.
  • Work with customers to pass data security reviews.
  • Build our first sandbox environment, so potential customers can quickly experiment with Zipline.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS
  • Experience deploying B2B SaaS applications
  • Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a startup environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with EMR/EKS
  • Experience with orchestrators like Airflow
  • Experience with Data infrastructure tools like Flink, Spark
  • Experience with zero-to-one development
  • Languages: Scala/Python
  • Early-stage experience at a startup.

Compensation: 135k – 200k base salary based on experience & location and founding engineer equity.

At Zipline, we’re reimagining how ML and AI workflows are built. Today, getting these applications into production involves building and maintaining complex webs of data pipelines and infrastructure that most teams are ill equipped to handle.

We’re building a platform that abstracts away this complexity. Users express ML/AI pipelines on top of their raw data, and the infra to power serving, training, fine-tuning and evaluation are automatically generated.

Our vision is to make creating and shipping production grade ML/AI workflows as easy as expressing the business logic of what the user is trying to achieve.

Our founders, Nikhil and Varant, have spent the past 10+ years working on data and ML/AI Infrastructure at Airbnb, Meta, Amazon and Palantir. They created Chronon while at Airbnb which is widely used to power data for all ML use-cases. Chronon has since been adopted by Stripe and is open-sourced. Chronon serves as a starting point to build out the broader Zipline offering.
